The formidable Alpine A290 recently took to the streets of Madrid with none other than French footballing legend Zinédine Zidane. The dynamic all-electric, sporty, 5-seater hot-hatch is Alpine’s first all-electric vehicle and is starting to feature more on the roads of Europe.

Zidane the ambassador
While he may have hung up his boots and brought an end to his legendary club and international football career, Zidane isn’t slowing down. As he awaits his next coaching opportunity – reportedly ideally with Real Madrid or the French national team – the future is full of exciting possibilities. In the meantime, he’s staying busy as an ambassador for Alpine, supporting their equal opportunities programmes. Recently, he got behind the wheel of the A290, becoming one of the first to hit the streets of Madrid in his powerful A290 GT Performance.
After his personal test drive, he couldn’t help but enthuse, saying: “Thanks to my role as ambassador, I've had the chance to spend some time with the whole Alpine electric programme team, which is really exciting. And here I am, already driving around Madrid in this little electric A290, which is fantastic! It's quite incredible, easy to drive and at the same time sporty; a real pleasure!”

The first deliveries of the A290 started at the end of December 2024 – it’s now making its way through Europe, impressing drivers and enthusiasts on its journey.
